270: Classical Guitar (Any Age)

Tentative Date & Venue: August 6 (Cranbrook School, Bellevue Hill)

Unaccompanied. Test: Two items of contrasting nature. Total Performance Time of up to 10 minutes, which includes time taken between items. Last year’s winner not eligible.

1st: $750. 2nd: $300. 3rd: $100.

Sponsored by the Classical Guitar Society, Sydney.

The winner also receives a performance opportunity with the Society.

271: Classical Guitar (18 & Under)

Tentative Date & Venue: August 6 (Cranbrook School, Bellevue Hill)

Unaccompanied. Test: Two items of contrasting nature. Total Performance Time of up to 10 minutes, which includes time taken between items. Last year’s winner not eligible. Winner 11-15 years MAY qualify for Event 214 – see event conditions.

1st: $500. 2nd: $250. 3rd: $150. Sponsored by Anthony & Sharon Lee.

272: Classical Guitar (15 & under)

Tentative Date & Venue: August 6 (Cranbrook School, Bellevue Hill)

Unaccompanied. Test: One or more items of own choice. Total Performance Time of up to 8 minutes, which includes time taken between items. If insufficient entries in either Events 272 or 273, these will combine. Winner 11 -15 years MAY qualify for Event 214 – see event conditions.

1st: $150. 2nd: $100. 3rd: $50.

273: Classical Guitar (12 & under)

Tentative Date & Venue: August 6 (Cranbrook School, Bellevue Hill)

For the Leslie Andrews Memorial Awards

Unaccompanied. Test: One or more items of own choice. Total Performance Time of up to 6 minutes, which includes time taken between items. If insufficient entries in either Events 272 or 273, these will combine. Winner 11 – 12 years MAY qualify for Event 214 – see event conditions

1st: $150 and a scholarship to the 2018 Sydney Summer School*. 2nd: $100. 3rd: $50.

* The Hills Ensemble, a group of CGS guitarists led by Keryn Leverton, generously financed this scholarship. The scholarship will cover the cost of the JUNIOR SUMMER SCHOOL (4 Day Course), which will be held at Ascham School in January 2018. Details of the 2017 JUNIOR SUMMER SCHOOL are still up on the website – http://www.classicalguitarsydney.org/junior-summer-school-4-day-course  The cost of travel and accommodation are not included in the scholarship. Should the 1st prizewinner decide not to take up the scholarship, it will be offered to the 2nd prizewinner. If Events 272 and 273 are combined, the scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the CGS

What’s On This Month

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Saturday 1st July – at our regular venue – Crows Nest Uniting Church Hall, cnr Shirley Rd and Nicholson st, Wollstonecraft from 2.00 – 4.00 pm. There will be a playing list so please bring your guitar and your best-prepared work. This meeting will be followed at 5.00 pm by the Society’s annual mid-winter social, in the nearby restaurant/bar Fratelli Fresh, 118 Willoughby Rd., Crows Nest – a short walk from the meeting hall, but with the Holtermann St  Council car park very close. The CGS monthly radio broadcast airs live on Saturday 15th July at 6.00 pm on Fine Music 102.5 FM.
