2018 RURAL AND REGIONAL CGS SUMMER SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

For the Five-day course, Tuesday 9th – Saturday 13th January 2018.

These scholarships are made possible by the generosity of

Guitarsonline.com.au

and the Classical Guitar Society, Sydney.

These are aimed primarily at promising and enthusiastic pre-tertiary and tertiary guitar students from regional areas around Australia. The scholarships will cover the Summer School enrolment fee and the cost of billeting (for those over 18) with a member of the Society from the evening Monday 8/1/18 to the morning of Sunday 14/1/18. Only applicants over 18 years of age can be billeted due to NSW Child Protection Laws. The applicant should meet any travel costs to and from the Summer School.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2018 scholarships

Scholarship history.

Following a suggestion from British concert guitarist Carlos Bonell in 2004, the Summer School organising tutors established this scholarship for the 2005 event. Initially there was only one scholarship but in subsequent years Canberra guitar enthusiast Haddon Spurgeon supplied funding for a second scholarship.

In 2008 guitarsonline.com.au added its backing to the scholarship and three worthy recipients were placed at the summer school. Later guitarsonline.com.au increased its support and now four places will be available with two coming from the generosity of guitarsonline.com.au and a further two from the CGS. During its lifetime the scholarship has provided billet accommodation and the summer school for enthusiastic guitarists from every state and territory in Australia.

www.sydneyguitarschool.com.au will provide a scholarship for three of its own students to attend the four-day Junior Guitar Summer School. These will be announced on December 17 at the end of year concert.
